2009 is almost already over?
After a much needed reorganization, things are slowly starting to change here. First and foremost, I am moving my operation over the next month and a half. Second, I have started on a new batch of prototypes and the future for FBB is starting to take shape.
The bulk of my production going forward is going to be geared toward producing a consistent quality product using the materials that make the most sense to use. This means that I will be taking on less of what I was calling "full custom" work and producing more basses that will be pushed through to my own specifications "in the white", leaving finish, pickup and preamp configurations open as long as possible so that interested buyers can tailor that part of the build to their liking.
Basses will be built in batches of 6, and I will put a simple survey page up that will allow visitors to let me know what kind of basses they would be most interested in buying so that I can adapt the batches to what people want. I will do my best to keep the "in progres" pages up-to-date, so that anyone interested in purchasing one can see how they are taking shape.
I will generally allow 1, possibly two spots in the production runs for custom work, but unfortunately I will have to be selective about what I take on for those slots. I apologize if this is a disappointing development to some. I just need to reclaim the creative control that motivates me to spend my spare hours working in the shop. I hope that the next wave of basses will find you all well and that despite the changes, there will be something in there for everyone who wants to own an FBB!
Enjoy the holidays!
